Letters to The New Baby

On Tuesday November 4,2008 you had open heart surgery to fix the hole and open the valve up. The night before the surgery the doctor talked to me and said it would take 4 to 5 hours for the surgery to be completed, but it depended on how you did. It only took 3 hours for it to be over with and you in recovery. The doctors are saying you will be in CICU for a few days then you will go to recovery, then in 7 to 10 days you can go home. You are a fighter I hope you stay that way as you get older. We gave you your name because you needed to be strong like your Grandma Sharon,because like you she was a fighter. I wish you could have met her, but that was not intended to be.

They are going to be taking you on August 12, 2008 at 8:00 A.M. I can not wait. I asked them about the earliest time they would take you and they told me 39 weeks, unless you try to come before then then they will take you when you try to come. I can wait the three weeks they want me to. Give you time to get stronger and healthier. You are 6 ibs 8 oz give or take 15 oz.
They are going to be taking you by c-section cause it is safer for both of us.

Well we just got home from the doctors and you are a girl. So Sharon Alexandra it is.

On Monday I go to Miami Valley to find out if you are a boy or a girl for sure. I will be taking a recordible DVD with me to record it. So that other family members can watch it. I’ll be back in after I get home to write again.

We have now chosen both a girl and boy name for you. If you are a boy your name will by Cyrus Alexander. Which means Lord, defender of mankind. The name is after two very powerful emperiors.
But if you are a girl your name will be Sharon Alexandria. Which is after your Grandma Carpenter and the feminine version of one of the emperiors. Which name means Fertile plain defender of mankind. I will write more later.

Are you a boy or a girl? That is what Mommy wants to know. Mommy and Daddy went to the doctors today and they did an ultrasound to try and find out but you would not open your legs. So now we are waiting until May 7 to find out the answer to that question. No matter what the answer is you are going to be loved. You are moving around more and more each day now.
The doctors say you are right where you should be size wise. So there is no trouble there as of now, and I hope it stays that way. Night for now.

I went to the doctor yesterday and she told me that you are further along than she thought you where. She moved me up two weeks. So you are now due around the end of July. Mommy can not wait. Your big sister doesn’t know what to think. Somedays she trys to tickle you and other days she just wants to kick mommys belly. But she will be a good big sister just give her a bit to relize that you are in there. When you start kicking to where it can be felt on the outside I will let her feel you moving and kicking and hope she understands then. Until next time. Mommy needs to get something to eat and get to bed.

This will be the first in a long line of letters. I have started a notebook for your big sister. I am going to be writing on here for you. Let me first start off this letter with telling you that even at three months inside the womb you are a strong little one. There are a lot of people that would have loved to have ment you but did not get the chance.
One of which is your Daddies Mommy, Grandma Katie (which is what she liked to be called). I had just gotten pregnant with you when she died. I did not tell her that I thought you might be coming along because I was so afraid she would try and fight a little bit longer to see you. She was very sick and needed to go home. So now she is watching over you along with your Grandpa Chuck. They both would have loved you very much.
Along with letters you might also find poetry in this journal. For when I find a reason to write poetry I do so. And what better reason to write than for a new baby.
As of now we have a boy name picked out for you. It is Cyrus Alexander, after two very powerful emperors. We have not pciked out a girls name yet. We can not find one that everyone agrees upon. We have tossed around Sharon Sue, and Rebecca Kay, but those have both been vetoed by other family members. I guess we will have to get out a baby name book.
